Your heating should serve the whole home, not leave you working around the rooms that stay cold.

From houses around Askew Road and Wendell Park to converted flats and White City apartments, the starting point is the installation you actually have.

PEP provides powerflushing and central heating system cleaning across Shepherd’s Bush W12. We investigate poor circulation, establish whether deposits are contributing to the problem and recommend the appropriate treatment. Where a powerflush is suitable, we agree the scope, protect your home and check the heating after cleaning.

01 · Start with the cause

What is stopping the heat from reaching your rooms?

A clear starting pointUnderstand the cold room before choosing the treatment.

A radiator can feel warm near its inlet while the rest stays disappointingly cool. Another room may take much longer to warm up, even though the boiler appears to be running normally. These patterns help guide an investigation, but they do not identify the cause on their own.

Tell us whether the problem affects one radiator, several rooms or the whole property, and whether it appeared gradually or after work on the heating.

  • Cold lower sections can be associated with deposits, but circulation also needs checking.
  • One completely cold radiator warrants checks of its valves and local connections.
  • Several slow radiators may indicate restricted circulation, balancing or control problems.
  • Discoloured water or debris in a filter provides useful evidence alongside other checks.

Our powerflush decision guide explains the symptoms and alternatives in more detail.

02 · Heating for the way you live

Has the house changed while the heating stayed the same?

A kitchen extension, loft conversion or additional radiator changes what an existing heating system is being asked to do. Old and new pipework may now serve different floor levels, longer routes and rooms with different heating requirements.

For a Shepherd’s Bush home that has been altered in stages, it matters whether the heating used to perform well or has struggled since a particular change. Cleaning may help where contamination restricts flow. It cannot make undersized pipework larger, increase a radiator’s designed output or correct the layout of an unsuitable circuit.

03 · Choose the right remedy

Powerflush, chemical clean or a targeted repair?

The right recommendation depends on the condition of the system and what is preventing it from working properly.

01

Powerflushing

A dedicated external machine creates cleaning circulation through the heating circuit. Suitable cleaning products and controlled treatment help loosen and remove accumulated deposits. The process relies on flow, rather than the high-pressure jetting used to clear drains.

02

Chemical cleaning

A less intensive clean may circulate a suitable product using the system’s own pump before draining and rinsing. It can be appropriate where circulation is sufficient and contamination does not justify a full powerflush. Both methods can use chemicals.

03

Balancing or repair

If the main fault is a sticking valve, failed component, control issue or uneven distribution of flow, cleaning alone will not resolve it. We explain the proposed remedy and any separate work before proceeding.

04 · Assess. Clean. Protect.

A planned service, from first checks to final handover

Before the visit, we discuss access to the boiler and radiators, equipment space and suitable water and drainage arrangements. In occupied homes, we also plan protection for floors, nearby furniture and the route through the property.

01

Establish the starting condition

We review the reported symptoms, accessible pipework, valves and any existing filter. The assessment identifies the circuits involved, visible defects and anything that could affect the cleaning method or expected result.

02

Prepare and connect

The connection point and equipment setup are selected for the installation. We protect the working area and explain any interruption to heating or hot water before work begins.

03

Treat the relevant circuits

Cleaning circulation is directed through the agreed circuits, with individual radiators receiving attention as appropriate. Treatment follows the requirements of the equipment, cleaning products and system materials, rather than a fixed routine regardless of condition.

04

Rinse and restore protection

Loosened contamination and cleaning residues are removed through appropriate rinsing. A compatible inhibitor is then introduced at the required concentration for the system, following the product instructions.

05

Restore operation and check

We reinstate the system, vent it as required and check its operation. The handover explains the work completed and any remaining fault or recommended follow-up.

Kamco’s manufacturer guidance also sets out individual radiator treatment, protective dosing and checks after cleaning.

05 · Suitability before assumptions

Older radiators, microbore and mixed heating systems

Inspection of an older copper radiator branch beneath a lifted floorboard.
Inspect the existing pipeworkUnderstand the circuit before connecting the machine.

Small-bore pipework needs an individual assessment. Microbore is not automatically unsuitable for flushing, but narrow or heavily obstructed branches can limit the result. A completely blocked section may require separate investigation or replacement. Kamco’s technical guidance explains why connection arrangements and restrictions matter.

Where radiators share a system with underfloor heating, we establish how the circuits connect and what treatment each requires. A radiator clean should not be assumed to include every UFH loop or manifold.

Condition matters more than age alone. If visible corrosion, unreliable valves or other defects make the proposed work unsuitable, we explain the concern and discuss alternatives.

06 · Private circuit or shared system?

Powerflushing a flat: identify the system before booking

A converted flat with its own boiler is different from an apartment supplied by communal heating. In managed buildings around White City and Wood Lane, establish whether your home has an individual boiler, a heat interface unit or another shared arrangement.

The scope must identify which circuit serves your property, how it can be isolated and who is responsible for it. Access arrangements or authorisation from the managing agent may also be needed.

07 · A clearly defined quotation

What affects powerflush cost in Shepherd’s Bush?

Radiator count is a useful starting point, but it does not describe the whole job. Two homes with the same number of radiators can have different pipework, access and cleaning requirements.

The quotation takes account of:

  • The number of radiators, circuits and heating zones.
  • System condition and the extent of restricted circulation.
  • Pipework arrangement and access to suitable connections.
  • Preparation, protection and equipment access.
  • The agreed treatment, testing and filter work.

PEP provides a written scope with the price, applicable VAT and any exclusions made clear. Cleaning an existing magnetic filter is not the same as supplying a new one. Replacement valves, pumps, radiators or pipework are identified separately where required, rather than assumed to be part of the cleaning price.

08 · One coordinated installation package

A new boiler and a clean system belong in the same plan

If PEP is replacing your boiler, you do not need to arrange a duplicate standalone powerflush for cleaning already included in your installation package.

Our boiler installation offer includes a full-system PowerFlush, with the existing system assessed beforehand for suitability and the appropriate cleaning approach. Any separately identified repairs or alterations are addressed in the agreed quotation.

PEP is a Vaillant and Viessmann Registered Installer. See our boiler installation service in Shepherd’s Bush for the installation package and qualifying manufacturer cover. That cover relates to the boiler installation, not a guarantee for every existing heating component or a standalone powerflush.

09 · Check the water. Check the heating.

What should be different when the work is finished?

Where deposits were restricting circulation, the aim is to improve the movement of heating water and the delivery of heat. The result should be checked against the original complaint, not judged only by the colour of water leaving the machine.

We check the operation of the treated system and how the affected radiators respond. Water-condition and protective-treatment checks need to suit the products used. As Fernox explains, clear-looking water alone does not establish that inhibitor concentration or water chemistry is correct.

If a room remains cold because of a separate valve, control or design problem, we explain that finding. We also discuss any follow-up, including attention to leaks, repeated topping-up or filter maintenance, rather than promising a fixed number of trouble-free years.

Before arranging the work

Questions before booking

Will a powerflush fix one cold radiator?

Not necessarily. A local valve fault, trapped air or restricted connection can produce a similar complaint. We investigate the cause before recommending a whole-system clean for a problem affecting one radiator.

Can you powerflush microbore pipework?

It may be suitable, but the pipe arrangement and available circulation matter. We do not guarantee that flushing will clear a completely blocked branch; separate remedial work may be necessary.

How long should I allow?

Allow most of a working day for many domestic systems. Larger, heavily contaminated or difficult-to-access installations can take longer. We discuss the anticipated duration and disruption when agreeing the work.

Will the radiators need to come off the wall?

Not routinely. Suitable systems can be cleaned with radiators in place. A severely restricted radiator may need separate attention, and any proposed removal or replacement is discussed before it becomes additional work.

Could cleaning reveal a leak?

It can expose an existing weakness where corrosion has already damaged a component. Cleaning does not restore lost metal. We consider condition beforehand and explain relevant risks rather than describing old installations as risk-free.

Is a new magnetic filter included?

Only where its supply and installation are stated in the quotation. Inspecting or cleaning an existing filter is a different task from fitting a new one.

Does powerflushing replace a boiler service?

No. Cleaning the heating-water circuit is different from servicing the boiler. Any separate appliance work needs its own appropriate scope and checks.

Do I need a separate powerflush when PEP installs my boiler?

No duplicate booking is needed for the system cleaning included in your agreed PEP boiler installation package. The quotation confirms the scope and any additional repairs or alterations.

A clear next step for your heating
