A new boiler should do more than replace an ageing appliance. It should meet your household’s hot-water needs, work properly with the heating already installed and remain accessible long after the cupboard doors are closed.

PEP provides boiler installation in Hammersmith W6, including replacements, relocations and changes from older heating arrangements. We specify the appliance alongside the pipework, controls and system preparation it needs.

From a flat near Hammersmith Grove to a family house around Ravenscourt Park, the starting point is the same: understand the property before recommending the equipment.

Start with the brief

What do you need your new boiler to change?

Heating engineer measuring the width of a boiler cupboard before replacement.
Before specifyingUnderstand the space before choosing the appliance.

Sometimes the brief is straightforward: replace an unreliable boiler without reorganising the home. In other cases, a refurbishment has exposed a bigger question. Should the cylinder stay? Can the boiler move? Will the current arrangement support another bathroom?

Establishing that brief early avoids choosing an appliance that fits the old installation but not your future plans.

01

A replacement in the same position

Retaining the location can reduce alterations, but a similar-looking boiler is not necessarily a direct fit. Connections, flue compatibility, cupboard dimensions and maintenance clearances still need checking.

We also review existing symptoms. Uneven heating or repeated pressure loss may originate elsewhere in the system; replacing the boiler alone will not necessarily resolve them.

02

A boiler relocation

Moving the boiler can free kitchen space or improve access. The proposed position must also accommodate the flue, condensate drainage, gas supply and heating connections.

We establish these routes before cabinetry, ceilings or new finishes make them difficult to change.

03

A system conversion

Replacing a conventional arrangement with a combi changes how the home receives hot water. Keeping stored hot water while modernising the boiler is a different project again.

We explain what would be removed, retained or altered, rather than treating conversion as an automatic upgrade. Our conventional-to-combi conversion guide explores that decision in detail.

The building matters

Boiler installation planned around Hammersmith homes

The installation needs to suit the building as well as the household.

In a converted property around Hammersmith Grove or Brook Green, a boiler may sit within a compact kitchen while its flue and services pass through less accessible parts of the building. Identifying private pipework, shared areas and access requirements is an important part of the survey.

For a house around Brackenbury Village or Ravenscourt Park, the question may be how an older heating circuit should serve a changed layout. An extended kitchen, additional bathroom or new underfloor-heating zone can alter the specification.

A refurbishment near St Peter’s Square may also require particular attention to retained features and external alterations. Planning permission is not normally required for wholly internal boiler work, but listed-building status and proposed flue changes can introduce additional considerations. Relevant permissions must be established for the actual property. Planning Portal guidance.

Where the work forms part of a larger renovation, our plumbing installation service in Hammersmith allows the boiler, water services and bathroom or kitchen connections to be planned together.

Different homes. Different demands.

Combi, system or regular boiler: choose around the household

The smallest appliance is not always the best use of space. The highest output is not automatically the best specification.

We consider room-heating requirements separately from hot-water demand, alongside the existing installation and the changes you expect to make.

Stored hot waterConsider the cylinder, recovery and controls together.

System boilers and stored hot water

Where the household regularly uses several outlets together, a suitable cylinder can provide useful stored capacity.

Selection involves more than cylinder size. Recovery performance, controls, available space and the water-supply arrangement all matter. A serviceable cylinder does not automatically need replacing when the boiler changes.

If you are considering a different hot-water arrangement, our vented-to-unvented conversion guide explains the wider considerations.

01

Combi boiler installation

A combi heats domestic hot water as it is needed, avoiding a separate storage cylinder. It can suit a flat or smaller house where demand and the incoming water supply support that arrangement.

The important questions are practical: how many outlets will run together, what flow is available and what temperature rise must the appliance deliver?

A larger combi may heat a greater volume of water, but it cannot create an adequate incoming supply where one is missing. Manufacturer sizing guidance also distinguishes hot-water output from the heat needed by the rooms. Vaillant’s sizing guidance.

03

Regular or heat-only boilers

Retaining a compatible heat-only arrangement can be a sensible option when it already serves the home well.

We assess the associated equipment and its condition before recommending retention or conversion. Removing tanks and changing operating pressures should follow a considered design, not simply a preference for newer terminology.

The complete job, clearly defined

What your PEP installation quotation covers

Installer pressing a copper heating connection below a boiler during refurbishment.
Installation detailPlan the connections and the access they need.

A useful quotation should allow you to understand the complete job, not just recognise the boiler model.

Our assessment establishes:

  • The proposed appliance and why it suits the property.
  • Which radiators, cylinder, pipework and controls can remain.
  • Required gas, flue, condensate and other connection work.
  • System cleaning and protection.
  • Controls, commissioning and handover.
  • The qualifying extended manufacturer guarantee or warranty, included at no additional cost, with registration arranged by PEP.
  • Any additional access, building or finishing work.

The written scope identifies necessary alterations and separates them from work that is not included. This matters particularly when installation involves a new location, a cylinder conversion or coordination with other trades.

Included with PEP boiler replacements

Full-system PowerFlush included

PEP includes a full-system PowerFlush with its boiler replacements, together with appropriate system protection, inhibitor and water-condition checks.

Cleaning helps remove accumulated contamination from the circuit before it continues operating with the new appliance. It is part of our replacement package, not an optional extra hidden behind a low appliance-only price.

The circuit is assessed first. Deteriorated components, inaccessible sections or shared-system boundaries can affect how the work is approached; any limitations are discussed before proceeding.

A PowerFlush does not repair a failed valve or correct an unsuitable pipework arrangement. Those issues need to be identified separately.

A coordinated heating system

Choose the boiler and controls together

Wall-mounted heating controller with adjacent receiver and neatly contained wiring.
Day-to-day operationControls selected for the boiler and the system.

As Vaillant and Viessmann registered installers, we specify the boiler, compatible controls and qualifying manufacturer protection together. We recommend an appropriate current model rather than applying one default specification to every Hammersmith property.

Controls form part of that decision.

A thermostat may be able to switch a boiler on and off without providing the same integration as a compatible modulating control. The intended communication, available functions and retained equipment should therefore be checked before purchase.

Where radiators, underfloor heating and stored hot water share a boiler, their demands also need coordinating. An app cannot compensate for an incorrectly arranged heating circuit.

Our guide to smart heating controls explains the options. For more extensive projects, see our central heating and plant-room installation service.

Your extended cover is part of the specification

The qualifying manufacturer guarantee or warranty agreed for your Vaillant or Viessmann installation is included in your PEP quotation, with no additional warranty charge. We handle registration and explain the servicing conditions at handover.

Compare the complete scope

How much does boiler installation in Hammersmith cost?

The most useful starting point is the work involved, not a price attached to a photograph of a boiler.

A replacement retaining the existing position and broad arrangement is different from moving an appliance, changing the hot-water system or opening finished areas to alter pipework.

The main cost factors include:

  • Appliance selection and the agreed protection package.
  • Gas-pipe sizing and the route of any necessary alterations.
  • Flue components, termination position and access.
  • Condensate drainage.
  • Cylinder, tank or redundant-pipework alterations.
  • Heating-system condition and remedial work.
  • Controls, zoning and electrical connections.
  • Cupboard changes, making good and specialist access.

PEP provides a written quotation following assessment. It should be clear what is included, what is excluded and whether a proposed change would affect the price.

When comparing quotations, compare the whole installation: preparation, accessories, controls, testing, registration and agreed finishing work—not only the appliance.

Four stages. One agreed plan.

From assessment to a properly handed-over installation

Heating engineer checking a flue-gas analyser during boiler commissioning.
Commissioning & handoverCheck the operation. Record the results.
  1. 1. Establish the brief

Send your postcode, boiler details and photographs of the surrounding space. Tell us about any cylinder, proposed renovation or change in hot-water use.

This helps identify the likely scope before the site assessment.

  2. 2. Confirm the practical details

We check the installation requirements and agree the specification, access arrangements and programme. If another contractor is building a cupboard or finishing the room, relevant dimensions and service access should be coordinated beforehand.

  3. 3. Complete the installation

Working areas are protected and the agreed removal, preparation and installation work is carried out.

We explain the expected interruption to heating and hot water so you can plan around it. Conversions and relocations can require a different programme from a straightforward replacement.

  4. 4. Test, document and explain

Commissioning includes the checks required for the selected appliance and installation, with results recorded rather than relying on the boiler simply turning on.

We explain the controls and provide the relevant handover information. Commissioning records, Building Regulations notification and manufacturer registration are distinct parts of the process. PEP arranges the applicable notification and registration for its installation work. Gas Safe guidance on notification.

Experience beyond the appliance

PEP’s heating work includes installations where boilers, hot-water storage, distribution and controls must operate together.

You can see examples in our heating and hot-water project gallery. That wider experience informs smaller replacements too: knowing how the system works helps establish what needs changing and what can sensibly stay.

You do not need a complete refurbishment to work with us. We also undertake defined boiler replacements in flats and smaller houses.

Before you book

Boiler installation questions

Are you registered installers for Vaillant and Viessmann?

Yes. PEP is a Vaillant Advance Installer and a Viessmann Trained Installer. We install both brands in Hammersmith W6 and arrange the manufacturer registration for the qualifying package agreed in your quotation.

Is the extended boiler guarantee or warranty an extra charge?

No. The extended manufacturer cover specified for a qualifying PEP Vaillant or Viessmann installation is included at no additional cost. Eligible packages can provide up to 10 years with Vaillant or up to 12 years with Viessmann. The exact term depends on the model, accessories and applicable scheme; it is confirmed before installation. Manufacturer conditions and annual servicing requirements apply. Annual servicing is charged separately.

Can the new boiler stay inside my existing cupboard?

Possibly. We check dimensions, manufacturer clearances, connections and maintenance access. Retaining the cupboard should not make future servicing impractical.

Will I need to replace every radiator?

Not automatically. Existing radiators and pipework are assessed for condition, suitability and performance. Necessary repairs or changes are identified in the scope.

Can you replace a boiler in a leasehold flat?

Yes, where the flat has an individual boiler and the proposed work is suitable. Any relevant freeholder, managing-agent or shared-area requirements need resolving before work begins.

Is a combi suitable if we have two bathrooms?

It can be, but bathroom count alone does not decide suitability. Simultaneous use, incoming supply and the appliance’s hot-water capability matter. Some households benefit from retaining stored hot water.

Is the PowerFlush an additional charge?

It is included in PEP’s boiler replacement package. The survey establishes the circuit’s condition and identifies any separate repairs or limitations affecting the work.

How long will we be without heating and hot water?

That depends on the installation. We explain the expected interruption before booking. Relocations, conversions and substantial pipework changes generally involve more work than a replacement in the same position.

Does poor heating mean the boiler needs replacing?

Not necessarily. Controls, circulation problems, valves or contamination can produce similar symptoms. The cause should be established before committing to a replacement.

What if my apartment has an HIU?

An HIU connected to communal heating is not an individual gas boiler. Check the arrangement with your building manager and let us know when enquiring; it requires a different assessment.

What will I receive after installation?

Relevant commissioning information, operating guidance and confirmation of the applicable notification and manufacturer-registration arrangements. We also explain servicing requirements attached to the selected manufacturer protection.
